Routes
Some organizations read meters in a specific order each month—this is known as a route.
What is a route?
A route is a defined sequence of meters that are read together on a regular basis, typically monthly. It helps streamline and organize meter reading schedules.
Manage routes
You manage routes in the Interval Data module.
Key requirements
- A route must contain at least one meter with a monthly channel before it can be saved.
- You can only add or remove meters that are within your topmost place permissions.
Enter route readings with a spreadsheet
You can use a Create Route Readings spreadsheet to record and upload monthly submeter readings.
Key features
- Designed for route-based meter reading.
- Records monthly readings for submeters.
- Uses standard Excel format—simple and familiar.
Flexible data entry
- Can be used on smartphones or tablets.
- Works offline—no internet connection needed at the time of entry.
- Upload the spreadsheet after it is complete.
Duplicate meters in routes
When editing a route, you can change the meter order by inserting rows and selecting the meters you want to move.
No need to delete duplicates
If a meter appears more than once in the list:
- UtilityManagement automatically keeps the first occurrence.
- Any duplicate entries are removed when the route is saved.
Route deletion permissions
- You cannot delete a route if it contains meters outside your topmost place permissions.
- This ensures users only manage routes and meters they're authorized to access..
