Bill calculation overview

Bill calculation facts

• Generates a new bill based on the meter's configuration
• Provides automatic interval data subtotals
• Calculates use and cost independently
• Offers an optional configuration for demand
• Add meter charges and account line items to a generated bill
• Are configured on the meter

Run bill calculations only once for each billing period, regardless of the UtilityManagement version.

If you run bill calculations in different UtilityManagement versions for the same billing period you produce duplicate bills.

Configure bill calculations

You configure a meter for bill calculations. 

1. Select the meter.
2. Click the Properties tab.
3. Click Chargebacks.
4. Use Add Bill Calculation.
   
5. Configure the version.
   
6. You'll land on the Bill Calculation Setup.
   

Bill calculation options

Use

• Link to a SmartAnalytics meter
• Channel readings
• Fixed amount
• Copy use from another meter
• Sum or subtract use from multiple meters

Cost

• Meter rate schedule
• Fixed unit cost
• Unit cost from another meter
• Fixed amount
• Copy cost from another meter
• Sum or subtract use from multiple meters

Demand (optional)

• Link to a SmartAnalytics meter
• Channel readings
• Fixed amount

Other charges (optional)

Add either type of charge at the meter or account

• Fixed amount
• Percentage amount
