EnergyCAP overview
Last updated July 6, 2026
EnergyCAP is an energy and utility management platform that helps organizations track, analyze, and reduce their energy use and costs. It centralizes utility bill data, interval meter readings, and energy performance metrics—giving energy managers, facility teams, and finance staff a single source of truth for all their utility data.
This overview introduces the key concepts and structure of EnergyCAP to help you understand how the pieces fit together.

Two views of your data
- The sites and meters hierarchy (facilities view)
- The accounts hierarchy (accounting view)
Sites and meters
The sites and meters hierarchy contains organizations, sites, and meters in a familiar tree structure. It reflects the physical layout and is often used by Building Operations or Energy Management staff.
Accounts
The accounts hierarchy contains accounts and cost centers grouped into a familiar tree structure. The Accounts module is most often used by Finance or Accounting staff to review allocated costs.
The advantages of separating the use tracking (Sites and Meters hierarchy) from the financial tracking (Accounts hierarchy):
- Use assigned to physical locations doesn't change when financial grouping changes.
- Meters can stay constant even if the vendor and supplier changes over time.
